Take A Look Onboard The Royal Caribbean Cruise Now

In Singapore, ship of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas is sailing. If you are sick of hearing about it and what it will be like, well, come onboard the ship and see for yourself what cruising is like right now.

1. Boarding time

Before you arrive at the port, you can pick your boarding time. Then using the Royal Caribbean app, you can fully check-in. Completing all your info before you arrive. Once you complete each section, it will show that you are cleared to board and you will be given your mobile boarding pass.

2. Wellness Screening

On arrival at the port, your temperature will be taken for the first time. You won’t even know it’s being done. Then you will need to pass a wellness screening. Your temp will be taken again and you will hand in your health declaration form. If any symptoms are present, you will be taken for a more in-depth screening before being allowed to board. And masks are required at all points.

3. On board the ship

And that’s it. You are cleared to board. Once on the ship, daily temperature checks will be taken at points around the ship including when entering restaurants.
There are stations all around the ship. Passengers will be required to wear a bracelet for track and trace purposes. It will be able to identify if you have been in close contact with anyone with Covid onboard. There are sanitizers outside of every venue, you must use it before entering.

4. New muster drill

Now, the brand-new muster drill. Crowded gatherings are no more. So, you will watch the drill on the Royal Caribbean app or on your stateroom tv. Once you are finished watching, you look at where your muster station is and check in with a crew member. Social distancing stickers will be used to keep you safe. Once checked-in you get a green sticker to say you have completed the drill. It’s so easy and so much better than before.

5. Kids Club

The kids’ clubs are still open but with brand new procedures to keep kids safe like a reduced capacity and handwashing. Royal Caribbean even have their own handwashing video! Like elsewhere, social distancing will be maintained and the use of masks.

6. Activities

Before entering any activity, your temperature will be taken yet again. Social distancing and the cleaning of all areas will be done after each person.

Everything is open including the Skydiving Simulator ifly by Ripcord. Luckily, no masks needed inside. They would fly off your face faster than you can say, “fly off your face”. The surf simulator, Flowrider is open too with clear floor markings while you wait.

The Seaplex is open too, with dodgem cars or roller skating. Again, there are clear floor markings and masks are required and all equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each use. This is a lot of extra work for the crew.

The North Star is open with reduced capacity and social distancing. And once again, it is sanitised after each use.

7. Pools and Hot tubs

Pools and hot tubs will basically be the same but with socially distanced sun beds and reduced capacities. We are not sure how we feel about wearing a mask when sunbathing, just think of the tan lines.

8. Theatre and Stage

The theatre has reserved seating with marked off seats in between. You will be taken to your seat by a crew member. Masks again will need to be worn. And then you can sit back, relax and enjoy the fantastic entertainment found on Royal Caribbean Ships. It’s basically just the same except you are not sat next to anyone and wearing a mask. Then after the performance, the theatre will be deep cleaned.

The Two70 performance stage at the back of the ship works exactly the same way as the theatre. You can still enjoy the amazing, fantastic performances and robotics screens.

9. Casinos

Casinos will be open too but with socially distance seating and markers. After each use, the machines will be cleaned down. The crew are going to be so busy. Crews will be wearing masks and face shield to keep them and you safe.

10. Bars and Dining

Bars will operate with less seating. Certain seats will be removed or not in use to allow social distancing. Don’t worry when drinking or eating, masks are not required. It would be physically impossible and very messy otherwise.

The buffet concept has also changed. You must wash and sanitize your hands before entering. Instead of picking the food yourself with tongs, a crew member will serve you. Tables will be separated or closed to provide the correct distancing.

Restaurants will have some slight changes. Instead of a paper menu, you will scan a QR code to bring up the menu. When you leave the table, a team of crew members will quickly clean and sterilize the area. It looks like an army operation.

11. Cleaning and Sanitising

All public areas of the ship will be deep cleaned and sanitised daily. High traffic areas will be constantly cleaned. Technology will take a big part in the changes. You can see information about dining, shows and activities on your mobile device.

You can also view your bill and charges at any point without having to visit guest relations. Finally, cabins will have a deep clean using electrostatic fogging after each sailing.

Happy Cruising!
